Emergency Preparedness

The Littleton Fire Department has a page with links  to information to help you prepare for the next emergency.  You were going to buy new batteries, weren't you?

2008 Ice Storm Stories

The Friends of the Littleton Council on Aging, the Littleton Historical Society, and the Reuben Hoar Library are collecting stories about the December 12-13, 2008 ice storm. We hope to have a gathering in January to share experiences and make a video with Littleton Community Television, but in the meantime please send us your own experiences and especially photos. Email should go to BJTRM@aol.com with “Ice Storm” in the subject line. Letters can be sent to “Ice Storm” at the Reuben Hoar Library, 41 Shattuck Street, Littleton, 01460. We’d like to hear about the good, the bad, the cold, the dark, what you did while the power was out and how you felt when it came back on. Please send us only copies of your material. We cannot promise to return anything. The goal of this project is to document the event so that in one hundred years people will know what we experienced.

Reuben Hoar Library Fund

In anticipation of the need for funds to explore future library expansion and community enrichment, the Reuben Hoar Library Trustees have established The Reuben Hoar Library Fund with the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.

The short term goal is to establish a permanent library fund for community enrichment.  The Trustees have created this fund with $5,000 and hope residents and patrons will contribute generously to the growth of this fund.

In the upcoming months we plan to host community enrichment activities such as an author series.

Inclement Weather

The library is closed when Littleton schools are closed because of inclement weather.  However, sometimes conditions improve during the day.  The library may open in that case.  On stormy non-school days the senior staff member consults the Public Works and Police Departments and then decides about opening.  The same procedure occurs when a storm develops during the day.  Be sure to telephone 978-486-4046 to see if the library is open before you leave home.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
